C.Vale is the first cooperative in Brazil to obtain ASC certification for tilapia production in excavated tanks

The fish slaughterhouse and fish farming company have received an unprecedented certification. C.Vale is the first cooperative in Brazil to obtain certification from the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), with integrated tilapia farming in excavated ponds.

The certification is granted to organizations that prioritize sustainability, demonstrated through environmental management and social responsibility.

“The audit takes into account international standards ranging from environmental impact to responsible commercial-scale production. In short, this certification confirms that we can produce and export sustainable tilapia to the world,” emphasized the manager of the Fish Department at C.Vale, Paulo Roberto Poggere.

According to the manager of the industrial plant, Jair De Sordi, the new accreditation reinforces the premises of commercial-scale production that the fish slaughterhouse had already achieved.

“We now have ASC certification for the industry and the field. We are accredited to sell fish meat to the most demanding consumers in the world,” emphasized the manager. The ASC Global Services auditors were accompanied by C.Vale field and fish industry teams.
