Brazilian poultry sector donates 10 thousand kilos of chicken meat to UN
The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) and JBS/Seara yesterday (26) delivered a donation of 10 thousand kilos of chicken meat for actions to combat hunger promoted by the United Nations (UN) in Algeria. The ceremony took place at the Brazilian Embassy in Algeria, within the context of Brazilian donations to UN agencies.
ABPA’s markets director, Luís Rua, participated in the donation ceremony, organized by the Brazilian Embassy in the Algerian capital, together with local government authorities, representatives of UN agencies, the press, stakeholders and representatives of more than forty embassies present in the country.
“Brazil has developed its agriculture over the last 50 years and has become one of the most reliable sources of food supply. We truly believe that food security should be a priority goal to be pursued in the Sustainable Development Goals. Our country, as the world leader in chicken meat exports, understands and plays its role in reducing food insecurity and hunger in the world”, said Rua at the ceremony.
Also present at the ceremony, the director of JBS’s operations in MENA (Middle East and North Africa), Eduardo Garcia, highlighted that “providing quality food, produced in a sustainable way for a growing world population is our biggest challenge. This donation It is a demonstration of the Brazilian protein industry’s commitment to food security around the world.”
