Pamplona makes agreement to purchase renewable energy
In line with its sustainability commitment, Pamplona Alimentos S.A announces a partnership with ENGIE, the largest private energy company in the country, for the use of electricity from renewable sources in its industrial units.
The energy acquired comes from the Campo Largo 2 Wind Complex, located in Sento Sé and Umburanas, in Bahia, the Company’s largest wind farm, and will supply Pamplona’s manufacturing units in Santa Catarina: the Rio do Sul headquarters, the Presidente branch Getúlio, and the feed factory in Laurentino, and in this contract, the percentages of renewable energy in each of them will be between 51% and 87% of total consumption, respectively.
“We understand that the global scenario is undergoing an important transformation in terms of the energy concept and the food industry has enormous responsibility in relation to the methods in which it carries out its activities. Renewable sources need to be part of organizations’ growth strategy and defined as a necessary practice in the face of sustainability challenges at a global level”, explains Irani Pamplona Peters, president of Pamplona Alimentos S.A.
In line with this scenario, energy supply is among the topics that are gaining the most relevance within the company, with sustainable initiatives to encourage its commitment to sustainability and the environment.
The partnership is in line with the strategic vision of both organizations, placing sustainability as a key element of the business. “We offer renewable energy to reduce costs and boost our customers’ businesses. Furthermore, Pamplona does not just acquire our energy, but directly contributes to the socio-environmental programs developed by ENGIE throughout the country”, comments Gabriel Mann, Director of Energy Commercialization at ENGIE Brasil Energia
