Copacol earns Seedcare Excellence certification for the third consecutive year

Syngenta recognition highlights the cooperative’s high standards and innovation in seed treatment and quality assurance

Copacol has once again been recognized for its outstanding performance in seed treatment. For the third consecutive year, the cooperative has received the Seedcare Excellence Seal from Syngenta, a global leader in agricultural solutions. The certification highlights the high standards adopted in Industrial Seed Treatment (TSI) for its Impacta and Copacol Sementes brands.

The recognition reflects a meticulous process that begins with the selection of planting fields and extends through seed treatment and storage. To qualify for the seal, operations must meet strict criteria, including precise dosage of treatment per seed, high germination rates, well-maintained machinery, employee safety, environmental responsibility, and full legal compliance. The evaluation is carried out by Syngenta’s own auditors as well as external, independent inspectors.

“This certification is a source of great pride for us. It validates Copacol’s daily commitment to delivering technical solutions that enhance productivity and profitability for our farmers,” says Fernando Fávero, Copacol’s Input Manager.

High-quality seeds from field to lab

The seeds treated by Copacol are produced in fields located in Abelardo Luz and Campos Novos (Santa Catarina), and Santa Margarida do Sul (Rio Grande do Sul). These regions offer diverse agronomic conditions that allow the cooperative to meet the specific needs of its members in western and southwestern Paraná, where soil and climate vary significantly.

Once harvested, the seeds are sent to the Agricultural Research Center (CPA), where they undergo rigorous analysis for germination, vigor, viability, and purity. Only seeds that meet Copacol’s strict quality standards proceed to the next stage.

The cooperative operates two modern TSI facilities in Cafelândia and Cascavel, equipped with advanced technology for precise and uniform seed treatment. Additionally, Copacol has invested in refrigerated storage systems. Maintaining a programmed temperature of 15 °C and 55% relative humidity ensures the seeds retain their physiological quality until they are delivered to farmers.

A continued commitment to field productivity

The recognition from Syngenta reinforces Copacol’s status as a benchmark for seed quality in Brazil. The cooperative remains committed to investing in research, innovation, and infrastructure to ensure its members receive high-performance seeds that contribute to productivity and sustainability in the field.
