Friato Reinforces Commitment to Recycling and Offsets Over 36 Tons of Packaging Waste

Partnership with eureciclo strengthens the circular economy and generates positive impact in Brazil’s recycling chain
In 2024, Friato reached the milestone of offsetting 36,099 kilograms of post-consumer packaging — the equivalent of more than 36 tons of waste that returned to the production cycle and were transformed into new resources. The result stems from a partnership established in 2023 with eureciclo, the leading packaging reverse logistics certifier in Brazil.
The eureciclo seal, which is printed on Friato’s packaging, certifies the company’s direct investment in the national recycling chain, by financing the work of certified cooperatives and operators responsible for the proper disposal of materials.
Highlights from the 2024 results include:
-
Plastic – 20,800 kg: equivalent to over 200,000 recycled plastic bags, which would take more than 400 years to decompose.
-
Paper and Cardboard – 15,299 kg: enough volume to produce more than 2.5 million sheets of A4 paper and an estimated savings of 1.5 million liters of water — equivalent to 3,000 residential 500-liter water tanks.
According to the company, adopting the environmental offset model reinforces its commitment to responsible waste management, supports the income of waste pickers and cooperatives, strengthens the circular economy, and complies with current environmental legislation.
“Each package offset represents not only a reduction in waste in the environment, but also the recognition of the work of thousands of recyclers and an incentive toward more conscious consumption. At Friato, we believe that sustainability is built through concrete actions and shared responsibility,” the company emphasized.
Friato also highlights that consumers play an essential role in this process. By choosing products with the eureciclo seal, they contribute directly to recycling efforts in Brazil. The company also recommends proper disposal of packaging — rinsing, separating, and sending it to selective collection or drop-off points — as a way to enhance the positive impacts of this initiative.
