MBRF achieves Triple A rating from CDP
The combined 2024 performance of Marfrig and BRF has placed MBRF among a select group of companies worldwide recognized for excellence in climate action, water security and forest protection. The result earned MBRF a Triple A rating from CDP, the leading global, non-profit environmental disclosure platform.
The rating refers to the 2024 assessment cycle, a year in which Marfrig and BRF were still evaluated separately. During the period, Marfrig achieved the maximum score for the second consecutive year across all three categories assessed by CDP — Climate Change, Water Security and Forests — placing it among the few companies worldwide to reach top performance in every dimension. BRF also posted significant progress, joining the CDP A List for Climate Change and Water Security and maintaining an A- rating in Forests.
An A score represents the highest level of environmental leadership within CDP’s methodology, indicating transparent disclosure of comprehensive data and the adoption of concrete actions to mitigate environmental impacts.
With a 25-year track record, CDP encourages companies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect water resources and conserve ecosystems. Its evaluation criteria cover emissions management and reduction targets, responsible water use policies, forest conservation actions and engagement across supply chains. Companies are rated from A to D, with A reserved for those demonstrating best-in-class transparency and sustainability performance.
“This result reflects the consistency of the sustainability platform we have built over recent years, grounded in practices that reconcile productivity, natural resource conservation and biodiversity protection. Marfrig and BRF were already moving along this path in a convergent manner, guided by the same environmental vision. With the merger completed in 2025, the CDP performance of both companies now becomes part of MBRF’s ESG journey, expanding our capacity to generate positive impact,” said Paulo Pianez, Director of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs at MBRF. “The union of two companies historically recognized for their socio-environmental management strengthens MBRF’s positioning and reinforces our commitment to increasingly sustainable food production.”
Sustainability at MBRF
MBRF’s sustainability platform is structured around the efficient use of natural resources — including water and energy — the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and responsible supply chain management, with a strong focus on traceability, deforestation prevention and social inclusion.
This commitment is reinforced by the Verde+ Program, which aims to ensure a fully monitored, deforestation- and conversion-free, low-emission supply chain. Based on the principles of production, conservation and inclusion, the program operates on three fronts: the adoption of monitoring and traceability technologies; technical assistance for producer development; and financial mechanisms that incentivize sustainable practices. As a result, MBRF monitors 100% of its direct and indirect grain suppliers across Brazilian biomes. In the cattle supply chain, the company has reached 100% monitoring of direct suppliers and 91.4% in the Amazon and 88.4% in the Cerrado among indirect suppliers.
To address climate change and contribute to a low-carbon economy, MBRF has established greenhouse gas reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C in accordance with the Paris Agreement. The company’s action plan focuses on building a deforestation-free supply chain, advancing low-carbon agriculture, accelerating the energy transition and improving operational efficiency — areas in which consistent progress has already been achieved.
