Copacol inaugurates new Fleet Management Center with R$34.5 million investment

Copacol has inaugurated a new Fleet Management Center in Cafelândia, in western Paraná, reinforcing its strategy to modernize logistics operations while strengthening its commitment to sustainability. The facility received an investment of R$34.5 million and was designed to support the cooperative’s transportation activities across Brazil, from the collection of agricultural production to the distribution of refrigerated cargo.

Located along highway PR-180, the new structure occupies a total area of 78,000 square meters, with 35,000 square meters of built space. The complex brings together workshops, administrative areas, and technical infrastructure dedicated to the maintenance and management of the cooperative’s fleet.

Among the main features of the facility are sustainability-focused solutions, including systems capable of treating and reusing up to 100,000 liters of water per day, as well as a photovoltaic power plant with 180 solar panels supplying energy to equipment and installations. The structure also includes waste collection and treatment points designed to support reverse logistics practices.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of Copacol’s board of directors, administrative and fiscal councils, managers, and employees. During the event, the cooperative highlighted the operational benefits of the new structure, such as improved efficiency in the maintenance control of both light and heavy vehicles, reduced operating costs, and more rational use of natural resources.

According to Copacol’s CEO, Valter Pitol, the new facility represents a significant step forward in the cooperative’s logistics management and reinforces its commitment to sustainable practices.

“Beyond optimizing fleet management, this new structure strengthens Copacol’s position as a reference in Brazilian agribusiness, connecting operational efficiency, technology, and sustainable practices that add value to the production chain and the communities where the cooperative operates,” he said.

Logistics structure

The new center consolidates the cooperative’s fleet maintenance and support operations in a single location. The facility includes a gatehouse, a fully equipped mechanical workshop, tire repair area, vehicle washing stations, administrative offices, training auditorium, and specialized technical areas.

It also features a machining center, warehouses, storage facilities, a video telematics monitoring center, a wastewater treatment station, an AdBlue (Arla 32) production unit, and an on-site fueling station. In addition, the center includes dedicated infrastructure for the collection, treatment, and proper disposal of waste generated during vehicle maintenance activities.

With the new installation, all cooperative vehicles will be concentrated in the same facility, allowing closer operational monitoring and greater control over the use and maintenance of equipment.

Copacol’s Fleet Management division currently employs about 125 workers and oversees approximately 1,400 vehicles, machines, and implements, including trucks, cars, tractors, and forklifts. The fleet travels an average of 2.5 million kilometers per month.

According to Logistics Superintendent Itamar Ferrari, the cooperative’s growth has required continued investment in infrastructure and management systems to improve efficiency and working conditions.

“Copacol has been expanding across all its businesses, and the fleet area is no different. With this new structure we will have better control over our vehicles and equipment, greater operational efficiency, higher fleet availability, and reduced costs,” he said.

Tribute

During the inauguration ceremony, the cooperative also paid tribute to employee Josemar Oenning (in memoriam), who played an important role in the development of the new fleet management unit.

Oenning joined Copacol in 1998 and served as supervisor of the fleet area, contributing to the project that led to the creation of the new structure. The tribute was attended by members of his family.

According to his wife, Claudineia Oenning, the recognition was an emotional moment and highlighted the legacy he left within the cooperative and the project he helped build.
