ABPA launches “Conscious Use, Sustainable Future” movement
The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) has launched the “Conscious Use, Sustainable Future” Movement, an initiative aimed at expanding and encouraging awareness within the poultry, swine, and egg sectors about the responsible use of antimicrobials in production. The launch took place during a hybrid event held at the association’s headquarters in São Paulo (SP).
Inspired by the international concept of One Health — which recognizes the interdependence between animal, human, and environmental health — the movement promotes qualified information and encourages the engagement of stakeholders throughout the production chain in voluntary actions that foster the prudent use of antimicrobials.
One of the pillars of the movement is its partnership with sectoral entities affiliated with ABPA. The initiative will be activated in spaces such as SIAVS and events organized by the association’s partners, creating opportunities to share technical content and best practices.
Actions include the launch of an official microsite, which will feature educational materials, digital mini-courses, and a calendar of courses and events. Communication materials will also be disseminated through social media, awareness campaigns, and technical content to support participating companies.
“The movement was created to encourage, unify efforts, and highlight practices that are already in place in our sector. It is a measure to promote awareness, strengthen a culture of responsibility, and show that we are aligned with society’s and the market’s expectations,” said Ricardo Santin, President of ABPA.
According to Sula Alves, Technical Director at ABPA, the movement reinforces a continuous effort in education and engagement. “Our goal is to support producers, agribusinesses, and professionals with clear and accessible technical information that helps guide daily production decisions. Raising awareness means building a solid foundation for the future, ensuring One Health, food quality, and sustainability for the sector.”
